The course brings you up-to-date with new developments in the areas of customs practice and compliance. It provides fresh information on the fundamentals of customs agreements and enables you to review your current methods and practices in this area.
The following elements, among other, will be discussed at this course:
- Tariff Classification: Perhaps the single most important discipline when interpreting and implementing customs regulation is tariff classification. This course will examine the fundamentals of the rules based system behind classification meaning you can make decisions backed up with factual rules based analyses.
- Customs Valuation: It is estimated that more than 95% of customs value assessments are based on the transaction value method. In this course we will revisit this primary method of valuation as set out in the WTO Valuation rules
- Origin Determination: Origin of goods can be complex, especially if you are dealing with finished goods consisting of many different components which have been manufactured in various countries. This course will help you to understand the rules of origin, and to increase your awareness of the conditions to satisfy preferential trade agreements.
- Customs Modernisation: We are in a period of much change. During this course we will introduce you to some of the new customs arrangements, specifically pan-EU simplifications which are a pre-cursor to centralised clearance in Europe.
