1953 - First edition of the Professional Diploma: The longest established facet of the IITI is its education programmes. Each year since 1953 students have graduated in courses run under the auspices of the Irish Exporters' Association.
1996 - IITI is established to address the policy and practical issues related to Ireland’s international trade .After the IITI's inception in 1996, students have graduated in courses run under the auspices of the Institute of International Trade . These students have gone on to provide the platform for Ireland 's export performance, and are the basis of much of the country's current economic success.
2006 - Authorisation as an approved training centre: In 2006, both FAS and FETAC have authorised the IITI as an approved training centre. All IITI courses are designed, developed and delivered to the highest professional standards and are part of the National Qualifications Framework
2010 - Expanding Horizons: In 2010 IITI and LCD amalgamated to step up the level of international trade training.
